Autoimmune Test Panel

In a normally functioning immune system, white blood cells attack foreign invaders such as bacteria and viruses. In autoimmunity, antibodies tag normal healthy cells. This causes white blood cells to attack and destroy those cells as if they were foreign invaders.

What Causes Autoimmune Diseases?

Autoimmune diseases are becoming extremely common in western civilizations. Many researchers strictly believe that genetic predispositions are to blame. What many do not know is the fact that even our diet determine whether or not genes are turned on or turned off. For example, low vitamin D levels are closely associated with autoimmunity1. Why? Vitamin D changes gene expressions of white blood cells so they do not mistake “self” from “non-self”, keeping autoimmunity at bay.

Chemical exposures such as pesticides in and on foods is also a major promoter of automimmunity2. These chemicals can alter hormones and “confuse” the immune system thus increasing the risk of autoimmunity.

What’s Being Tested:

Since many with autoimmunity have more than one tissue being attacked, this test panel screens for the top 4 most common autoimmune conditions. If positive, other tests may need to be ordered to confirm (see individual categories).

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis: Rheumatoid Arthritis Factor (RA Factor)
  • Lupus (SLE) and other autoimmune conditions: Antinuclear Antibodies (ANA)
  • Celiac Disease: Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA + IgG Antibodies
  • Hashimotos’ Hypothyroidism: Thyroglobulin Antibodies + Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TGA/TPO Antibodies)
  • Highly recommended add-on test: Vitamin D

Advanced CD4 CD8 Ratio Test

The CD4 CD8 ratio profile helps assess the immune system in detail. This test is crucial for patients who are suspected of having a compromised immune system as seen in HIV and autoimmune conditions.

The CD4 CD8 ratio test is also recommended by Dr. Datis Kharrazian in his book Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms? When My Lab Tests Are Normal.

For those with autoimmune concerns, it is suggested to run the Th1 Th2 test along with this CD4/CD8 ratio test.

What’s Being Tested:

  • Absolute Lymphocytes
  • Absolute and Percentage CD3 Cells
  • Absolute and Percentage CD4 Cells (T Helper Cells)
  • Absolute and Percentage CD8 Cells (T Supressor Cells)
  • CD4/CD8 Ratio
  • Absolute and Percentage CD19 Cells
  • Absolute and Percentage CD16 + CD56 Cells (Natural Killer Cells (NK Cells))

Fasting: No

  • For those with autoimmune concerns, It is suggested to run this test during times of flare-ups or when felling “bad”.

Cyrex Labs Array 11

It is well known that chemical exposure can lead to ill health. Many tests can be used to show levels of chemical exposure, however, understanding how your immune system reacts to chemicals is extremely important. The importance of Cyrex chemical sensitivity testing lies in the fact that if there is an immune sensitivity to chemicals, the amount of exposure may be irrelevant.

For example, one may run a chemical exposure test that comes back negative. Following a Cyrex Labs chemical sensitivity screen, results may show a high immune reaction to the chemicals that are present, high or low.
